Our walk took us again past Stokesay Castle, but of course we didn't go inside, just walked past

There was a little haze in the air which made anything distant unclear

But there was no wind and the pond was a fairly flat reflector

We walked along a path with views of the castle behind us

A path through Stoke Wood took us to the northwest side of the hill

In clear weather the view would have been extensive, but today it was very hazy

The path ran along the edge of the wood, and then a sunken track just inside it

We crossed a narrow road and the path continued

The directions we were following told us to turn left at a waymarker. Fortunately we could see the path as the marker was well hidden

And this was the path running across a field

and the same view with a different colour balance

yet again.

up nearer the farm was this vehicle. Though the farm we came to a narrow road and turned right, looking for path
It had no footpath sign and it was not too clear where to go. Further on there was a way marker, then again no
sign, but I knew we needed to go downhill - and eventually we got to a track with some cottages on it`

This is Brandhill Gutter, and it seemed a terribly isolated place to live
