Craven Arms

Church Stretton, Shropshire, Tue 16 Aug 2016

We went in Ian's car to Church Stretton, leaving it in the car park visible just right of centre above the grassy hill

It was quite a climb up from Church Stretton, and there were extensive views to the north from Ragleth Hill

and the the Long Mynd to the west, though these were rather spoilt by a large hotel in the woods, the Longmynd Hotel
built in 1900 as the Hydro when Church Stretton attracted tourists as a spa.

and later to the south as well

Little Stretton and the Long Mynd

This part of the walk is on the Shropshire Way

The route down was steep

and emerged into fields and we turned onto a path to go to a minor road

where on the verge was a dead badger
