A little further down-river the river bank had a lining of rubbish. I think this site had previously had some industrial building that had been demolished and was awaiting redevelopment.

There is now a neat riverside path and a grassed area in front of medium rise flats where I think I took this. This tree and many of those on the opposite side of the river have now gone, though there are some smaller trees still on a narrow area of bank outside the new river wall a little downstream. You can just make out the two giant pylons carrying power across the Thames at Swanscombe and the tall chimneys of cement works at Northfleet, and the tops of a couple of cranes, but no other buildings are visible.
