The march gets a welcome from the Mayfair rooms on Fleet St
and continues up Ludgate Hill

It halts briefly outside the Bank of England before moving on a few
yards
to halt for a protest outside the USS offices
The UCY say the USS have got their pension calculations wrong and
their is no deficit
The employers want to effectively destroy the USS pension scheme,
ending guaranteed pension benefits.
There is a very loud protest here and a ring of police as well as
extra security outside the offices
but this is a peaceful if very angry protest
Those who have been paying into the fund for years feel that their
money is being stolen - and they are right.
It's something that has happened in many companies and we don't have
strong enough laws to protect
pensions from unscrupulous managements.
After a lengthy potest the march continued along Threadneedle St to
Bishopsgate and then
returing to Royal Exchange along Cornhill
The banners were lined up on the steps of the Royal Exchange for a
photograph
and there were a couple of short speeche
Sean Wallis, UCU NEC member from University College London end's todays
protest with the warning that the fight continues.
