Brentford locks were guaging locks so that tolls could be charged
The dockside sheds have been replaced by flats
The road over the canal used to be the main road from London to the
west and southwest
The canal leads to Birmingham
South of the High St the river and canal flow in the same channel
The bridge used to carry the railway from Southall to Brentford Dock
- and now gives access to the flats there
Flats at right are on the former Brentford Dock
THe river flows over the weir below the footbridge at centre left.
At right, Thames Lock connects the canal to the RIver Thames
The river comes back from the left here to rejoin the outlet from
Thames Lock leading to the Thames
The River Brent flows down towards the River Thames
