Students, including the KCL Intersectional Feminist Society, protest
for their cleaners to be brought in-house
and are joined by trade unionists including Sandy from SOAS Unison
with their banner
A man who appears to be a fascist stops to argue with the protesters
who tell him to go away
He makes threats and eventually police lead him away
food is offered to keep the protesters going
Two striking RMT workers stop to give their support
and tell the protest about their dispute
A poster lists the demands
A police officer comes to talk with the students and urges them not
to block the pavement
There are some brief speeches and a lot of chanting
The cleaners want proper sick pay, pensions, holidays and maternity
and paternity leave
and to be treated with dignity and respect by managers
The protesters decided to join the cleaners who were waiting inside Kings
College - and signed me and those who
had come to support the protest from outside King's in as visitors
