Many of those taking part were from the IWGB and UVW and were (or
had been) cleaners
Unions like the IWGB and UVW have led the fight to get a living wage
and better conditions for cleaners and other
low paid workers, many of whom are women and many are migrants

Catherine Mayer withdrew from the University of London #LeadingWomen
event when she heard about the IWGB
protest, deciding to speak at that instead.

event and came to speak at the protest
