Unite protest outside the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial
Stategy
TGI Fridays steals from the tips for the waiting staff.
Two years ago, then Business Secretary Sajid Javid promised to take
action over this abuse - but nothing has been done
Unite Restaurant, Catering and Bar Workers Branch came with Unite
Community to deliver a letter to his
replacement as business secretary Greg Clark to remind him of the
need for action
and they brought a giant beefburger with them
As well as strikers from TGI Fridays and union officials
there were also people from Unite Community supporting the action
A better view of the beefburger
The name of the ministry gets longer every time I cover a protest
here
Beefburger and banners
After half an hour or so of a noisy protest which might have drawn
the minister's attention
a small group went to hand in letters, which were taken by staff at
the door who promised they would be delivered
and shook hands with the campaigners
The protest outside continued for a few minutes
I had to leave the protesters who were going on to protest outside a branch
of TGI Fridays
