We climb up to the wood

were we tried to follow the path and got lost.

In the end we gave up, turned around and went back the way we had come

We did find some way-markers hidden in the undergrowth on our way out, but no sign of the path we should

have taken. Due to a misunderstanding we had left the compass in our bedroom, and somehow ended up going

in entirely the wrong direction. By the time I realised where we were it would have been too late to complete the walk

so we made our way down to Dinchope the way we had come, taking a slightly different route back to Halford
The stone is for Champion Welsh Mountain Pony Grove Sprightly (1918-49) who won 'More Prizes and Championships than any pony of his breed'.
