 Sitting room  Mount Grace Priory - a house was built here in the seventeenth century and enlarged in 1901     The rooms have been restored to show how they might have been with the Arts & Craft furnishings    Behind the house are the ruins of one of the largest and wealthiest of Englands Carthusian monasteries  |

  The monks lived like hermits, each with his own rather spacious cell, but came together half a dozen times during day and night for worship    Streams provided running water and constant flush lavatories  part of the reconstructed monk's cell  with a simple day room  with a largish bedroom    and on the upper floor a workroom - which woud be suitably equipped for whatever work the particular monk specialised in. |
