Disabled Welfare Reform Road Block

Oxford Circus, London. Saturday 28 Jan 2012

A protester comes to talk to the officer

and other joins her, shouting through a megaphone that the bill must go

The officer smiles at the photographers, and seems determined not to let the situation deteriorate

But people begin to handcuff themselves to the chain in case the police try to move them

But the police keep standing back and quite a few of the supporters of the protest are leaving after being on the
road for more than an hour and a half, and the protest seems likely to come to an end shortly. I left around ten
minutes before they decided they had made their point succesfully and it was time to pack up. The protest attracted
a great deal of coverage in the press for the campaign, while earlier protests have received very little publicity.
