Vaisakhi Celebrations in Woolwich

Ramgarhia Association Gurdwara, Woolwich. Sat 9 April 2011

People watch respectfully as the Guru Granth Sahib is place on the float

Some sit on open lorries for the procession and join the singing of the divine hymns

Children who go to the Sikh classes also take part in the procession

The Nagara - a giant drum - leads the procession

The mayor watches as the float is made ready for the procession to start

Quite a large crowd has gathered to take part

Unfortunately I had to leave shortly after 2.30 when the procession looked as if it was just about to start.
