The police stopped traffic for the march but appeared to be careful to keep their distance. Unlike some other marches I saw no evidence of police harassment, and the march stewards had stressed the need to avoid any confrontation with the police during the event. After Camberwell the march was due to continue to a rally at Peckham
Square which would include further comments by family members of those
who have died in police custody or by gun and knife crime, as well as
satements of solidarity from other organisations, including the AAPRP
(All African Peoples Revolutionary Party) and the black youth group
AJAMU (A Just African Movement for Unity) followed by closing statements
by InPDUM and APSP
(African Peoples' Socialist Party) Unfortunately the event was running
late and I had to be elesewhere. |
